[ Dan ] - Client Feedback Revisions

After the feedback we received, I have amended the end of the video to display Elle's link.

On top of this, I have added some extra footage into the marquee section which I think certainly makes it better.

I hope all parties are now happier with what we have created and am confident that this is the final edit we will have to make before the hand in.

[ Dan ] - Client Feedback

Client Feedback

After showing our video to Elle, Jo, Richard & our peers, I don't think it could have gone down much better. Elle's only reservation was the lack of a link to her website, but this is easily fixed in the premier pro file.

Richard and Jo made points that within my section, the hotdog physics seemed unrealistic and the transition between the two marquee entrances where boring. I have already mentioned in my blog the ethos behind the physics of the hotdog and the man falling over, so hopefully upon reading this any misconceptions should be cleared up.

As for the marquee transition, I have some ideas I want to try out to make this better and will be discussing them with my group members.

[Mike] - Presenting to Elli

Today we undertook the task of presenting our ideas and animation for the Visit Essex project to0 Elli Constantatou. Along with Richard Barnes and Jo Bowman, Elli was able to view all of the group's presentations for the project and give us some feedback on them.

Unfortunately due to illness, Simon Mills was unable to be present for the presentation so Michael, Daniel and Tom showed the video animation to the audience. A small Powerpoint presentation was created to give the audience some visuals whilst we were discussing the ideas and process to creating the animation.

We all felt that the presentation went really well. We tried to create a fun animation that would create a good vibe for the audience and it certainly did that with everybody enjoying themselves and finding parts of the animation very amusing.

After all of the presentations were completed, Elli, Jo and Richard were able to give us some feedback about what they thought were good and bad about our animations. This feedback would be beneficial to us when needing to create a project for a client in the future.

The feedback we received was very good. There were only 2 points that could be improved on by us. These were only very minor points and were more in the way of making our animation more suitable for the company to promote when only having a small amount of time for a video. We are going to make these minor changes before the final hand-in on Friday as they will only take a very small amount of time to complete. Elli, Jo and Richard all picked up on the idea of creating a good vibe for the audience and the animation having some humour involved. This was one of the things that we really wanted to get across so when we were given this feedback we were very happy.

[ Tom ] - No Interactive Flash

At the start of this project, we had intended to not only create an animation, but also an interactive flash. The idea being that instead of the user having to sit though the entire animtion, they could simply decide which event they wished to learn about and only watch that section of the animation.

Due to time constraints, a little lack of cooperation and some bad luck, we were unfortunately unable to do this. We all underestimated the amount of time that it would take to render our animations. We were rendering right up until a few days before we had to present our final animation to our client, along with all of the other groups. So finding the time to render took forever.

The week before the animation, we did discuss the possibility of creating the template to the flash file and simply slotting in a lower resolution version of each of our sections later once our HD renders had completed. However, we could not come to an agreement. So we had to wait until we had finished our final renders before even considering to create the flash. However, due to one of our members being ill on the final week, we decided to forget about it and focus purely on the final animation.

It would have been nice to be able to submit both a continuous and interactive Essex tourism animation, but in the end, it all seemed to be too much for us.

[ Dan ] - Editing

Because I have had much experience with video editing and cinematography at college, I volunteered to do all of the editing for the group. Once I had received all of the rendered videos from my group members, I was able to begin slicing and placing them on the time line so that they all sat well together as one entity.

Having used Premier Pro last year, I was quite confident in my abilities to create a good video and I feel that I have been able to use the editing software to the best of its ability in making all of our individual elements the best they could be as part as a whole, as well as ironing out any small problems which may have arose.

I also used the editing suite to add some titles to introduce our video subjects at the beginning of the four sections. When creating this, I got good feedback from Tom and Mike who both liked the idea. Due to Simon being ill, I created a splash image for his section not knowing what he would think of it, but with time running out and him nowhere to be found, I think I made the right choice, along with Mike and Tom who pointed out Simon's section would also need a title to not look out of place.

Again, due to Simon being ill for the majority of this week, I have had to edit his video in such a way that I thought would look best. We were also missing one of his scenes, but I think the editing hides this and I am happy with the way that I have managed to end the video.

With the feedback I have received from Mike and Tom, I feel that Elle will really enjoy what we have produced for her and can't wait to show it to her.

Here are the splash images I made for each of the sections:

[ Tom ] - Group Meeting 07/12/10

Today we managed to stick our 4 sections together into one complete animation, and add effects to it in Premiere Pro. All of the editing work was done by Dan.

Unfortunately, due to Simon being ill, we were unable to complete the airshow scene the way in which it had been intended as he was not there to tell us how he wanted his parts to fit together. The rest of us had to arrange them ourselves.

As well as this, my lawn mower scene had a slight problem. Some of the audience members in the backround would ramdomly have some of the verticies extend to the top of the screen for a few frames. Due to the fact that we completed the final animation so late in the day and that at the time of writing, we have to present this to our client tomorrow, we just didnt have the time to fix it. Luckily, its not that noticable.

Despite these small problems, our final animation has turned out much better than any of us expected. We are all very pleased with the result and hope that our client will be too.

[ Tom ] - Group Meeting 03/12/10

Today, all four of us worked on rendering our animations. They all took much longer to render than expected, and as a result, we were unable to complete the rendering by the end of the meeting.

We have to present our final animation on Wednesday, so we have agreed to finish the rendering over the weekend, meet up on Monday and finish everything there and then.
